Change vs growth... - Helping Bodies Heal

Change vs growth…

When you hear the word “change” – what comes up for you?  Is it fear?  Anxiety?  Resistance?  Overwhelm?   If so, join my club!   But when you think of growth, how do you feel?  I feel excited, inspired, motivated, hopeful.  It’s amazing what a subtle change in language can do, how it can shift your entire mindset.

We are closing in on the first week of the new year and many people are talking about new year’s resolutions and “words” they will focus on this year.  I’ve never been one for resolutions – it always seemed odd to me that someone would assume just because the clock struck midnight on December 31st, they would automatically adopt new behavior.

I like the idea of having a “theme” for the new year, something to come back to when I need to center myself on the vision I have for the year ahead.  It sort of reminds me of how mantras are used in meditation.

So this year I’ve come up with a word that I will focus on: GROWTH

I like the word growth because of the feelings it evokes within me (stated above) AND because it includes change without all the scariness and pressure.

As I move into the second year of life as an entrepreneur, there is a lot of GROWTH in my future.  Last year I was busy learning the science and art of health coaching, the mechanics of running a business in the digital age and understanding my ideal client.

I started the year thinking I needed to spend my energy growing my email list, building sales funnels and getting better at online marketing.  It felt overwhelming and joyless.  Thanks to a happenstance conversation with a superb life coach yesterday, I have a whole new outlook for 2016 and it feels energetically much more in alignment with who I am!

As a result of this conversation, I’ve decided to spend my energy this year focused on growth — deepening my coaching skills to better guide my clients towards their own transformation, connecting with more people 1:1 (spending less time “hiding” behind my computer) and building relationships with the singular goal of being in service to them (not on how they can help me).

I leave you with this — what’s your focus for 2016?  Are you trying to change who you are and fit into someone else’s version of who they think you should be?  Wouldn’t it feel so much better to center yourself on growing into a better version of who you want to be?

I’m offering FREE clarity sessions to anyone who wants to GROW in 2016!   If you’ve decided this will be the year you kick your sugar cravings to the curb, want to get off high blood pressure meds or desire to learn how to eat healthier to become a better role model for your children, I would love to be of service to you!
